Characters: Signless, Disciple, and au!Tavros [CLOSED]
Date: The day after this conversation.
Format: Prose
Content Warnings: Should be none!
Summary: A long-promised get together for story telling.
Disciple secretly hopes that this little get-together will help Signless feel more like himself again, and so it's both for his sake and for Tavros' that she puts a great deal of effort into preparing for it, using some of her prize money to get some treats for them to snack on, extra cushions to make their currently tiny hive comfier. It's not like any of it will go to waste, because they can just take it all to their new hive once they move in, something that she's hoping will happen very soon.
The others have been warned of Tavros' visit of course, out of courtesy as well as because she doesn't want there to be any bad reactions to a purpleblood they don't know about in their hive. And now, having done all she could to make sure they have a comfortable time together, she goes to gently shake Signless awake from the nap she insisted he takes so that they can wait together for their guest to arrive.

Since they're indoors, he foregoes his cloak for a black sweater that happens to be way too big for him. It has the unfortunate circumstance of obscuring his pant line, but it hides the mangled skin of his arms and the odd way his hands curl when he's not trying to use them.
He winds an arm around Disciple's waist as he comes out into the main room, tugging her close to his side so he can press a kiss to the top of her head and take in her scent. Two of the best ways he knows to help calm him.

He- he doesn't know yet.
And Dualscar?-
...Let's not talk about Dualscar.
But hey! Disciple and Signless! They're great and he can't wait to hang out with either of them. So please excuse if he's a little early, but early isn't as rude as late and Tavros likes to avoid being too rude at all costs. Even if he can be a little frank at times... Not that he notices that.
Knock knock!

"Tavros! It's so good to see you again, I'm glad you could come. Come in! We were waiting for you." She steps aside to let him in, looking back at Signless with barely suppressed excitement. This little gathering is the first thing she's done here to help her feel more like herself, like maybe things will be good again and return, if not to normal, then to something like a comfortable, happy way of them all getting along.
PERHAPS I DIDN'T TRACK THIS LIKE I THOUGHT I DID
He won't be preaching anymore, not like he had. A gathering of friends he could handle, though, small and intimate. The boy had seem so kind and excited, and even though he had gained a understandable trepidation around highbloods, he could never turn a child away. "Hello, Tavros. I hope you've been well."
Whoops :U
Tavros smiles, giving a little bow before heading inside, turning his head to fit through the door as usual. He turns a bright smile to Signless and nods, his hands kind of idly fiddling with the hem of his tux blazer, trying to keep preoccupied in his excitement.
"Hello! Yes, I have been well, like, an astounding amount of it actually, leagues even, heh. You both too?"
no subject
She heads back further into the hive as well, fussing at the cushions and pillows that she's already arranged and plumped up a dozen times over. They've never really had the opportunity to entertain friends in their own hive before. They've never even had a proper hive before. "We've been well enough," she assures him, sparing Signless from having to answer the question if he'd rather not.
no subject
"So what's the occasion that brought on this astounding amount of wellness you have? Or have things just been good for you in general?"
no subject
He steps in happily, not minding how crowded it is. He's not used to it at all, his hive back home was a rather spacious tower, but since coming here, Tavros has been getting used to smaller spaces and having people closer. Which you know what? Is actually pretty nice.
"I am definitely happy to hear that." A smile, glancing to the cushions now. He gives a wary smile before moving over to Signless and finally sitting down.
"Well-" trying to get comfortable as he sits, his suit tends to make this a problem sometimes.
"I moved in with two of my friends! And heh, how couldn't I be happy here? It is really cool and there's so many things to see and people to meet." A wide smile, looking in Signless's direction. "So many people are so nice here." And there's no Vriska! Always a plus, not that he'd say it. She's just really hard to understand and deal with.
no subject
"Oh, that's right! With Sollux and Equius, wasn't it? Sollux says you're all getting along very well together. And this really is a very nice place overall." She rests her cheek on Signless' shoulder, looking dreamy for a moment. "I think many of us could be quite happy here, really."
no subject
Good things. Focus on the good things. ""Still, I have met many people and learned new and interesting things that I would never have had a chance otherwise."
no subject
"Yes! Uh, my moirail and a dear friend, Equius is a very kind person I think, he uh, is just really weird too. It's so far very nice, we flooded the basement and made it rather comfortable for Sole and I, and Equius has a, uh, work room? Upstairs, so he can work on his projects, like the train set he said he would make me! I am thoroughly excited by this train, that is a fact." Nod nod.
"Leave? Hm, well I really don't know. I do not necessarily want to leave anyway, not yet I mean, I may later, want to leave, for for the time I am comfortable here and not leaving." Tavros nods again, getting a little more excited.
"Surly swimming scalebeast I know! I am most definitely enjoying the company of all these new and really interesting folk! It is pretty cool to learn about other worlds and the like."
no subject
She nods as she listens to Tavros telling them all about his hive, a smile playing over her lips again at his description of Equius, and at how excited Tavros seems to be at the prospect of a train set. "He is a little strange, isn't he? But I like talking to him - it was strange at the time but he was the one to tell me I had a descendant, because she's his moirail and he said we're very much like each other. We've been speaking quite a bit since then, I got him to promise to visit us at some point too."
And then she falls silent and thoughtful as Tavros declares that he doesn't actually want to leave. She knows the feeling, she has no wish to leave either - she can't exactly say she's happy here considering the state Signless and Psii are in, but given time she believes they can all be far more content than they ever were on Alternia.
"I think there are a lot of us who'd rather not leave, but it's only fair that we try and help the ones who do. Some of them seem to really want to go back to their homes." She lets a smile blossom across her face at his enthusiasm, nodding in agreement. "To learn about different worlds and different times as well! I can't stop wondering what Alternia must be like for you - and I know you were curious for a story or two from us as well!"
no subject
"I'd like for a chance to speak with anyone who's willing, I want to know everything that's happened on Alternia since I've been... gone." He's already heard horror stories, things that triggered memories of vague and long deteriorated dreams he could make little sense of. Maybe if he can hear about it from a troll he'd be able to make more sense of it, but of those he's met, ones who'd be willing seem few and far between.
"I've always found that sharing in stories is the greatest way to both learn and impart knowledge on to others." A smile. "And it's also very fun!"
no subject
"He is really strange-" Pause, chuckle, his lips curving into an endeared smile. "Excuse me, extremely strange." See, he made a joke, an x joke. Though now thinking about it, without Equius here to appreciate it, the joke is just kind of dumb, whoops.
"Oh-? His moirail is. Uh, okay. Well that kind of links you two, in a way, I guess, kind of... not, not really, glub." Glances down. Descendants, ancestors, he wishes his not!descendant would have spoken to him more, ugh. What if, Dualscar and his actual descendant acted the same? And both would have treated him like- Ugh, no no, this is happy, he's around Disciple and Signless, they are nice. Focus on that.
Tavros's fins flare a little before closing and sliding back neatly under his ears bay his jaw. "I'll remind Equius to do that then, he uh, can get kind of nervous it seems like? Which is not very productive to visiting people."
"Oh, whale there certainly are a lot of people to speak to here! And uh, I bet trolls from where you're from, which is not the same as where I am from but actually a different place entirely, would be willing to talk to you and tell you about everything!" Nods. "Yes! it's really fun. I have really been enjoying learning about humans and stuff too! Like my friend Toph can do this thing called earth bending and it is pretty much the coolest thing I have seen in a long time." Well, besides trains, trains trump everything.
no subject
"A little bit, perhaps," she agrees, nodding. "At the very least it made me curious to talk to him and we seem to get along. I...knew someone rather like him once, but Equius is younger and easier to get along with." And she's never felt the pressing need to bite him to get him to be sensible, the way she does every single conversation she has with Darkleer.
"Oh, but don't you worry about that! If he forgets I'll remind him myself," she adds with a mischievous look. She is nothing if not persistent and now that he's said he'll visit, well, she intends to insist on it!
"Toph...oh, yes, I think I've met her! But I can't say I know what earth bending is. It's amazing what some of the people here can do. Although," she shakes her head, laughing, "I don't think anything can ever beat the first time I saw Psii using his psionics."
