On a quest adventure (closed)
Characters: John and Toph
Date: 10/27
Format: action
Content Warnings: none
Summary: John and Toph are both trying to complete the smuggler's quest.
[John had been trailing Roth'ka for at least two days by the time his tracking was interrupted. He wasn't exactly the sneakiest person, so he was playing it safe and using the information he had to watch from afar and see if Roth'ka had a pattern he followed. So far it seemed that Roth'ka hadn't realized he had a little blue shadow following him, which was good, because John didn't want to spook him off before he found evidence of his misdeeds.
John may have been a bit too gleeful about this quest. He just found being a sneaky detective to be awesome.
But after two days the novelty was wearing off and he was starting to get bored with this. If he didn't find a lead soon, he was just going to raid Roth'ka's apartment for evidence. The police department hadn't said anything specific about how to catch this guy doing bad things, so maybe there was a bit of leeway.
Suddenly John realized that he had been thinking about this plan for too long, and his target had left the cafe and started to move on to wherever he was going next. In a hurry, John rushed after him, trying to keep up while still keeping his distance. He wasn't watching carefully enough, though, and it would be way too easy for him to bump into someone short and just below his line of sight.]

omg I'm sorry this took me forever and an age :(
Oof! [She's all ready to be annoyed, but it only takes a second of recovery for her to realize that this is that guy, and it's overcome by sheer surprise.] Hey, it's you! Wind boy! What the heck are you doing here?
[Oh wait, there's that annoyance, in full force.] Ugh, I don't have time to talk to you right now, either. I need to follow that guy!
[It just figures that when she finally runs into him again, she literally runs into him, and she can't afford to stop and grill him for answers.]
/patpatpat
[John looks back to his mark, not immediately realizing that he and Toph are following the same person. But he does remember their previous conversation.]
Chill, I'm just following a guy. I didn't forget you, we'll catch up later.
[And he tries to push that interaction to the back of his mind as he keeps going after his target. Which is conveniently in the same direction as Toph is going, so they get to interact more!]
no subject
[Yeah, it takes about two seconds to realize that they're going the same direction. Since they're trying to get closer and she doesn't want to blow her cover, her voice drops to an urgent, frustrated whisper, ducked behind a corner.]
I'm going this way! Why are you going this way?
no subject
The guy I'm following is going this way! It's not like I can tell him which way to go.
no subject
no subject
[He did, actually, since Toph is blind and all. BURNNNNNNNN!]
I've been following him for two days now and I'm not going to lose him now!
no subject
I want that reward, and you're not going to keep me from it. Shove off.
no subject
[This sure is baby's first quest.]
Besides I can fly so it's easier for me to catch him.
no subject
[She scowls. Reminding her of how much he isn't Aang puts her in an even worse mood, and she has no problem taking it out on him.]
Flying isn't that great, [she scoffs.] I can wrap him in steel the second I have my evidence. Flying is just for wusses who can't get their hands dirty.
no subject
...and that isn't the point anyway! I'm catching him and that's final.
[And then he takes off after their mark, intent on catching him first.]
