Today the government is holding a job fair for all outsiders. The convention centre in the Government Offices district is filled with brightly-coloured recruiting booths.
All newcomers are encouraged to come and peruse the many positions open to newcomers in the city, from janitorial staff and dock workers, to positions that require specialized skills, such as doctors, accountants, and engineers.
There are also booths for local schools of all levels. Characters who are younger than the age of majority, or who wish to further their education and upgrade their skills can sign up for classes, which will start next week!
Characters who have already started businesses are encouraged to set up booths of their own to recruit others. Otherwise, feel free to start threads below and discuss the options, or to post on the network about the jobs that they've taken. Feel free to NPC natives as needed for your threads.
Each character who gets a job at the fair is awarded a $300 start up bonus to help them buy clothing for their job.
Students are given a tuition credit to get them into school without having to pay up front. This is an interest-free loan, which they can pay back through part time jobs or pay back once they complete their education.
Welcome outsiders! You’ve just arrived, and the city is throwing a celebration for you. The entire city and surrounding caves have been decorated to make you all feel welcome, and each of you will receive a video message from the Speaker, inviting you to the festival.
Buildings throughout the city are lit up with magical, moving images, some of them showing notable citizens, others showing wildlife, and others showing wonders of nature, such as the night sky. Still others are a kaleidoscope of random colours, spanning the rainbow.
Even the walls of the cave itself has been decorated for the occasion. The rocks have somehow been dyed bright colours, and the lake itself is lit up with an eldrich glow. Those who have gills will discover that the lake has somehow been stocked with a myriad of floating jellyfish (non-poisonous) and other glowing sea life.
There are games and carnival rides, and hot, sticky fried foods, and other excitement to be found throughout the city. There are mysterious fortune tellers and magicians doing real magic. Or if you’re looking for more quiet spaces, head to the outskirts, where the caves themselves are a wonder to explore.
Just one thing marrs the ongoing celebration. One of the newcomers, Vanitas, has spawned dozens of Unversed, and they will be rampaging through the city. The largest number will be nearest to where Vanitas is, but they could be anywhere, seeking hearts and causing problems. These are the ones you’ll likely see:

» Feel free to make up entertainment to take in that we haven’t mentioned. Anything that you might find at a festival on Earth, you’ll find here, albeit with real magic incorporated.
» The festival will last until Wednesday, August 22th, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display over the city at the highest point of the cavern. The following morning the characters will awaken to find the city returned to normal, all decorations taken down.

It’s been a long day at the festival, but eventually you find your way over to where you were told your room is. You have a key labeled with the room number, and you should probably get settled in.
But, of course... You have roommates. Maybe you should get to know them, too.
The details on the rooms are available in the housing assignments post, and a separate thread will be made below for each room, with the residents listed in the comment.
