It's not the easiest of arrangements, each of them having different rooms to stay in scattered about, but they've made it work somehow. Helmsman tucked in comfortably in a bed and Di and Signless bedding down on the floor next to him along with frequent visits to Psii to make sure that he's okay. And then Dolorosa arrived and took charge of mothercluckbeasting all of them, and with the amount of time they all spend trying to be close to each other...well. They're going to need to step up their efforts at getting their own place.

But in the meantime they're together, and that makes just about anything bearable.

[There will be all the yelling, and no head petting.]

[But for now, she just smiles at her some more as she works and gestures to some of the papers.]

Someone does. I believe the name is... Toltecatl. [She is rather sure she is pronouncing that wrong. Oh well.] They only need some rough sketches done so they have an more solid idea of what they are to draw themselves. I thought of you.

[Di can handle that if it means her family has somewhere comfortable to stay.]

Tolet... [She wrinkles her nose. Nope, she can't say it.] If it's just rough sketches then it shouldn't be too difficult to do! I'll see if I can get in touch with them.

I thought that might appeal to your sense of artistic skill.

[Another pet of her hand through Di's hair, ending with a scratch by her ears.]

Besides a certain task by someone who seemed very kind named Willow, I have been looking into a few opportunities for currency as well. There is not much to live on in my sylladex, I am afraid. We also need to find something which will keep our dear restless and fussy little grubmonster-

[Yeah, Signless, your mom just called you a grubmonster in front of your girlfriend, deal with it.]

-suitably occupied. Perhaps to even assist in his recovery. [She taps her lip as she finishes putting some of the bread into the cupboard.] I know he has been more quiet as of late, but if he had something to encourage him into going off again as he used to at the slightest provocation...

[Oh goodness, ear scritches. This might just call for some serious purring over here. Wait, Willow? What's Rosa talking about?]

You've met Willow? She's wonderful, she helped with healing Signless and Psii, I don't know what we'd have done without her here. And even though she was kidnapped from her world like we were, the government here lets her work with them to get new arrivals settled, so maybe if you were thinking of a job you could talk to her about it. Perhaps making clothes, just like you said when you got here.

[Her lips twitch and she has to cover her mouth as she giggles, imagining Signless' face if he heard his guardian calling him that in front of her.]

Yes. Yes, of course, you're right. After seeing how badly he was hurt when he arrived - I guess I've been smothering him a little, trying to keep him close all the time. We do need to find something for him to do.

She did seem to be a very kind and generous individual even considering the fact that her social skills when she is excited, nervous, or even both simultaneously tend to slip. I will have to speak to her again, of course, so I may bring it up in our conversation.

[Dusting her hands together, she picks up one of the papers and holds it up to Di- Customary is written in a corner in neat sprawling script.]

This may keep him occupied for quite some time. An individual in the city wishes to know more about the other worlds from which we are all drawn from. Given the many expansive sweeps which Alternian culture exists, this should keep him occupied for a extensive period of time.

[Di chuckles a little at that.] Yes, she does get flustered easily sometimes! It's sweet. Don't mention it to her, though, Rosa, it'll just make her self-conscious!

[A quick look over the paper and she's starting to grin.] You're right, this'll be perfect for him! It won't tire him out too much and he'll be able to talk to his heart's content. It's perfect.

[Her thumb and forefinger press together, and then draw across her mouth.] In case that was not suitably abundant in clarity, I was pantomiming the act of metaphorically zipping my lips.

I am glad you agree. Hopefully he will have the same thought process.

[Di chuckles - oh, she'd missed Dolorosa's way of expressing herself and sense of humour.] Perfectly clear!

I'm sure that he will. He really wants something to do anyway, I just haven't known what to find for him so far. I knew that you'd think of something, though!

It is all merely a matter of being a little imaginative, some perseverance in searching, and keeping an eye out in a manner that is preferably not literal.

These quests seem to be a good chance at many things as a matter of fact, particularly for making good impressions upon the local population and gaining currency until we can afford other things.

[That makes Di laugh again, and impulsively she flings her arms around Dolorosa for a hug.]

I'll see what other quests I might be able to do, then! And...well, speaking about Signless. Perhaps we could take a day to all go out together? I really want to do something to cheer him up, he's been so unhappy... [No, really, Rosa, they've barely even been pailing, this is serious.]

Oh- [Well, the impulsive hug is quite a surprise, but Dolorosa returns it eagerly with a smile.]

A day out sounds to be a lovely course of action. We will need to find an area where we can all relax without interruption.

Somewhere with grass and trees, maybe. Far away from water. Oh, and with bees! That should make Psii happy. ...as long as Signless keeps far away from them. [They don't want a repeat of The Bee Incident, after all.]

It seems a bit difficult considering our current.. surroundings, but there are always places beneath the earth which continue to surprise.

And yes, we will have to make sure he keeps quite far away.

Next time I'm out I'll go looking. There seems to be everything else down here, I'm sure there are some gardens at least.

[She laughs.] I'll wrap him in a blanket and keep him safely hidden, just in case! [Probably wrap herself into the blanket too, come to that.]

yes, I am quite certain you will be wrapping him in blankets, possibly away from the rest of us...

[She's not hinting anything lewd, certainly not!]

Of course! The better to keep him far away from the bees.

[This is the face of innocence, Dolorosa.]

And only the bees, I am quite sure.

[Not foolin' anyone, kitty.]

[Di just grins and laughs. Certainly just the bees.

And then she sighs.]

We'll have him smiling and laughing like he used to, right, Rosa?

[Seeing that look, Dolorosa reaches up and brushes her hand along Di's cheek.]

It will simply take time, little kitten. These things always do. But with you here, I am sure that it will come sooner than at some later date.

[She nods, quiet, leaning into Dolorosa's touch. It's been harder than she can explain, seeing the emotional wounds left on Signless by the torture - but she's still sure that out of anyone, Dolorosa understands.]
