Characters: The Helmsman / The Ψiioniic (OU) [OPEN]
Date: Oct 05
Format: Whatever; i will action spam unless told not to :P
Content Warnings: none?
Summary: Helmsman exploring the city during off hours.
It gets chilly in the early morning. This is the quietest time, after the nocturnal have gone to sleep, and before the diurnal wake. He is wrapped in one of his friend's cloaks. The smell is comforting.
The Helmsman scheduled his navigational tasks later to allow his body to recover from his arrival. It is a considerably more calm and stable Helmsman who floats above the city and its outskirts, collecting visual data. What good is a helmsman system if it cannot map out the surrounding area? He is here because of duty and programming, not curiosity.
Still, it disturbs him that there are no stars. Yes, he was kept in a ship's navigational block for ages, and is still anxious about going outside. But half that time his head was filled with visual input of stars as he drove the Empress's battleship. By them, he always knew exactly where in the galaxy he was.
The caverns are brooding and primal. Thoughts of predators and stony, enclosed spaces fill his mind. Unsettling. He's not sure why. He'll leave exploring the outlying labyrinths for another time.
(He may or may not be wearing knitted wool cozies for his biowires. He was asked to wear them in the cold, okay?!)

Doeth uther wish to share information about uther'th vethelth?
[and after an awkward pause...]
Doeth uther have exthperienthe commanding vethelth?
no subject
I certainly don't mind telling you about my own vessels. A long time ago, I had my own ship, and I was one of the best sailors there ever was! [a fond smile, nostalgic] But it wasn't like those ships. It was made of wood.
no subject
...Wood? From treeth? Are uther England'th treeth very thtrong, like steel?
no subject
Trees can be very strong! Only the strongest trees can make boats. It depends on how the bark is prepared, and if it's sealed... But certainly, not all trees are used for ship-building.
i'm back from hiatus, really sorry ; ;
Uther England'th ship wath an aquatic vethel, not an interplanetary vethel.....
[He relaxes a little.... No need to worry about this guy kidnapping and grafting him to pilot his spaceship.]
Did uther encounter pirateth? thea monthterth? giant aquatic fauna?
no problem <:3
Yes, all that and more. [England crossed his arms across his chest proudly. it probably wasn't a good idea to admit that he was a pirate, but...] I was a privateer a long time ago. And my navy is excellent!
no subject
Though the thought of returning there gives him strange tremors, he does miss the familiarity of simply following commands without a second thought. Here, he just feels lost.]
Will uther command a navy here?
do you want to be his second in command helmsman
and later that day, even, he loses even more. he rubs the back of his head]Certainly not. What a foolish question. It's not like the residents of this place would ever let anyone have any real power.
lol he's in no mental state to be a second, but...
If government utherth wish to improve their munithipal thectorth, it ith nethethary to divide adminithtration among every capable uther in the area.
[Even his ruthless Empress employed those of lower castes (such as himself) in her military forces. She would say, Why waste good talent? Like worker bees, every troll was put to good use.]
8D
we need a ship goddamnit
[Even if he hadn't spent the last forever in the service of a strategic conqueror, he had this much common sense.]
It ith advithable to thurvey the entire lake. However, there are no requethtth for a naval exthpedition on the quetht board. The lake ith mothtly uncharted.
[Though he must chart all the things, he's not too keen on floating out there all by himself. Some instinct, probably to do with the violent seadwelling trolls of his home planet, warns him against this. He'd feel much safer inside a ship with an experienced captain.]
that'd be amazing
Perhaps they have people who do that already.
no subject
If government utherth pothethed the capabilitieth, the lake would be fully charted.
[Jussayin. The maps on the network look woefully incomplete to him. But then, he is a navigator. Not knowing about more than a few miles outside the city was making him antsy. And, though his voice doesn't show it, a little cross.]
no subject
Have you ever considered talking to them about this yourself? [his arms crossed, he tosses Helmsman a wry grin]
no subject
[Despite his, ahem, vibrant engaging personality.]

Why ith uther troubled?
no subject
Because they don't trust us. We were brought here, against our wills, to assist them. Shouldn't they trust us?
no subject
[His formal tone has dropped a little, sounding.... darker?]
Helmthman Thythtem cannot allow interfereenthe in productivity by utherth other than Her Imperiouth Condethenthion. Thith includeth the munithipal authoritieth.
[As of now, that's the closest he can get to suggesting disobedience and insurrection.]
no subject
Her... Imperious Condescension?
no subject
Helmthman Thythtem ith the navigational and piloting thythtem of her battleship.
no subject
And so you are working in Darstone for her?

If your Empress isn't here, then why not do your own thing?
