Characters: The Helmsman / The Ψiioniic (OU) [OPEN]
Date: Oct 05
Format: Whatever; i will action spam unless told not to :P
Content Warnings: none?
Summary: Helmsman exploring the city during off hours.
It gets chilly in the early morning. This is the quietest time, after the nocturnal have gone to sleep, and before the diurnal wake. He is wrapped in one of his friend's cloaks. The smell is comforting.
The Helmsman scheduled his navigational tasks later to allow his body to recover from his arrival. It is a considerably more calm and stable Helmsman who floats above the city and its outskirts, collecting visual data. What good is a helmsman system if it cannot map out the surrounding area? He is here because of duty and programming, not curiosity.
Still, it disturbs him that there are no stars. Yes, he was kept in a ship's navigational block for ages, and is still anxious about going outside. But half that time his head was filled with visual input of stars as he drove the Empress's battleship. By them, he always knew exactly where in the galaxy he was.
The caverns are brooding and primal. Thoughts of predators and stony, enclosed spaces fill his mind. Unsettling. He's not sure why. He'll leave exploring the outlying labyrinths for another time.
(He may or may not be wearing knitted wool cozies for his biowires. He was asked to wear them in the cold, okay?!)

But it doesn't stop her worrying. He may be the strongest psionic in existence but he's also her dear, dear friend who's been through hell and back, and so...she can't quite help it if sometimes she climbs onto the roof to wait for him to come back, or, more rarely, follows him quietly just to keep an eye on him. She may not be able to hug him yet, but she can still keep him safe, and so what if she'll fall asleep on Signless in the middle of the day later on.

Probably for the best, considering he's gotten into one fight already. She is so quiet, an expert at tracking things, that he hasn't noticed her until now. It is only by the advantage of being airborne that he sees someone darting after him below. He envelops himself in a thin psionic shield before hovering down. Just in case it's not her.]...Uther Di?
no subject
[Her voice is soft and welcoming when he finally floats down to join her, a small smile on her face. She'd been sure he'd notice her sooner or later - he always used to, even back then when she'd try sneaking up on him to pounce.]
Have you been exploring our new home? It's interesting down here, isn't it?
no subject
There are many areath to collect navigational data.
[He looks up at the cave ceiling though, troubled.]
Thythtem cannot find thuitable openingth to obtherve athtronomical activity.

I SUPPOSE WE SHOULD GET THEM TOGETHER RIGHT NOW
The only thing that kept England going was the thought that raising enough money would get him a better house, or perhaps even higher up in society. His main goal was to go back to his world, but that couldn't be done if he just sat around and twiddled his thumbs. He pretended to be useful. The other day, he'd gone on a quest for the chief of police and slayed a weird parrot monster just to earn a bit more cash. England did this only for himself, and he planned on performing more quests that would give him money.
That morning, he was near the docks, wondering if he could fulfill a quest that was somehow related to a ship. Although he couldn't swim, England loved the water, loved sailing. He watched a barge float by, wrapped in a heavy coat with the brim of his hat covering his eyes and a cigarette dangling from his mouth. Ships should be able to see the sky, he thought with an air of disgust. What a waste.

She, of course, doesn't notice, and is trying to take some time to herself away from everything. It's been harder than she wants to admit to be here on her own, without any of her friends from home. Toph had come to rely on them in a way she didn't want to rely on anyone, but she did genuinely care, and miss them. She couldn't deny that.
She's slumped forward onto a ledge overlooking the city, arms folded and head resting atop them, looking more like a child than she ordinarily seems. A distracted sigh-- everything lately has been... wait.
What was that? Was that a noise? She didn't feel anyone, but it wasn't like she was omniscient.
"Is someone there?" she asks cautiously, straightening up and turning her head to aim her ears in different directions. She can't feel the Helmsman, as he's flying, but she's very sensitive to sound, and maybe he'd made some noise that she could detect, or briefly touched the rock and then flitted away again.

Greetingth. Thythtem apologitheth for dithtrething uther. Input uthername?

She tries to bluster through it.] My username? If you mean just my name, it's Toph. [Yeah, she's never used a computer before. Ever.] Who are you and what are you doing fluttering around?

Thythtem ith gathering navigational data. It ith nethethary to record cave formationth...
[Her eyes are strange. He lifts one of his biowires and slowly moves it back and forth. Getting no reaction, he tentatively waves it closer to her face.]

back from hiatus and rl, i'm sorry ;__;
/casually combo breaks
this morning she's gone through Frogtown to walk along the edges of the safe part of the Teyn, grateful for her bright red capelet more than ever with the light chill. every now and then she'll stop and lightly dip her hands into the water, thoughtfully watching the ripples spread across the tranquil surface.
she doesn't regret her life one bit, but Nepeta can't stop the longing to dive into the water just once. maybe someday, but not now. all she could do was look and watch now.]

[That red cape catches his eye as he surveys above. He is both frightened and intrigued by that color. He approaches the troll who turns out to look, oddly enough, very much like the user Disciple.]
Helmthman Thythtem mutht issue a warning to uther contherning the underwater fauna. Data hath indicated a high level of danger in areath clothe to the water.

the surprise doesn't last long as she turns to see who's speaking, her expression melting into a small smile. she has a sneaking suspicion that this is the same odd person she spoke with over the network, but who could be sure? there might be a lot of weird people with the same speech patterns in this city.]
Really? That's too bad, it looks so imclawsibly peaceful out here right now.
[she sighs a little, then brightens up again]
But you don't need to worry about me! I used to live by the beach, so I know not to go wading into funny waters.

oh hay we can finally meet without having a freakout can we?
It did not help that, despite having taken up residence in Darstone for quite a few weeks now, he barely knew anyone. Of course, he had heard a lot of familiar names, and has come to meet many of his own race in this land. But it felt odd knowing that despite that, there was no one here that he actually knew personally before his arrival.
So many of the days he spent his time wandering along the streets. Getting to know the land and territory. In fact, he spent so much more time out exploring then he did in his own Hive quarters that he had practically known about every damn street and alleyway the city had.
Perhaps one of these days he may actually just take his time to leave and go exploring past the gates for a bit?
Whatever.
His thought wasn't even on those things at the moment. No, he was too busy staring at the other dude who happened to be flying above him.
Someone else asides from him taking up the air in this cave-land? Go figure!
He's just... going to slowly and cautiously close in on you. He's curious okay? He wants to know who this hooded dude is.
Indeed, but not before he's made sure dat ass ain't hostile
[That violent troll who barged in and scared the shit out of him. Uh uh. NOPE. He surrounds himself in a thin shield just in case. His fear is enough to make his voice quaver a little.]
Pleathe thtate uther'th buthineth in thith area.
GOSH so cautious. Can't a brownblood get any respect around here?
Making no sudden movements the moment the other put up the all-too-familiar barrier.
"Woah man! Hold on! I mean no harm all right?" His wings fluttered as he hovered in place. Not at all trying to do anything to intimidating. "You're the Psiionic... right?"
Can't a system go through standard security protocols? 8U
Only if it doesn't mean you will send him flying into any more walls~
gdammit that icon is sexy can't stop staring
Neither can your icon apparently XD
He's that nerdy Asian kid snapping photos isn't he 8D

It's so hard though. He's constantly plagued by visions in his sleep, of the pain he endured, of the pain he caused, of the future he failed to create and the promises he couldn't keep. The later of which being the most painful.
Since waking up in this place there's been this curing ball of rage and hate sitting heavy in his chest, burning hotter than he's ever known. Trying to keep it contained has started to turn it inward, making the once verbose and passionate troll into someone quiet and melancholy. Di wants so much for everything to be normal again, but he just can't see it. Not now.
A familiar flash of red and blue catches his attention and he turns his eyes upwards, watching the Helmsman dart about and it makes his heart clench in his chest. His friend, his beloved Psiionic, so close but set so endlessly far away. Signless misses him deeply, and with how his spirit has been broken it's a wonder that he hasn't just given up on the hope that his friend will remember himself.
But he still clings to it, not having completely given up on the belief that hope was a powerful thing in it's own right.

[Signless is looking up at him. For a moment he wonders if he should follow protocol and greet his temporary system administrator. Every time Signless looks too closely at him, he get this sad, pained expression on his face. Helmsman knows he is a faulty system, an eyesore, but he's trying his best to be useful. He floats down, but not too close, in case Signless did not wish to talk after all.]
Would uther like a progreth report on navigational activitieth?
[There are greenhouses he's discovered. With bees in them. This is super important and totally relevant information.]

which she probably has. she always seems to know everything before everyone else=-
Of course, tell me about your evening, Psii.
-=he would have called him by his name, but it's still a habit to be secretive in public=-

It's as he heads down one of the more ruined streets in the Gnomish District that he spots the floating troll, biowires trailing behind.
Were he not absolutely shocked and slightly horrified by the Helmsman's appearance, he might find the knitted biowire cozies to be both practical and possibly even cute.::
Uh, excuse me...? Are you... quite alright?
