Ooh shiny! [COMPLETE]
Characters: England, Prussia
Date: September 8
Format: Prose
Content Warnings: most likely swearing, also Prussia in a dress.
Summary: England plans on going on a quest to find a gem, since he is a pirate. Prussia invites himself along. They can't stay away from each other, apparently, even though they are enemies. 8I
True to his own determination, England had decided to take on a quest in hopes of raising some money to have his own apartment. It was not that he disliked his roommates, but they were both girls. Besides, England preferred to live alone. Living in such close quarters with two girls made him uncomfortable.
Of course, there were other reasons why he wanted to get his own place, but he felt that he'd keep those a secret. Even he was disappointed in himself for those reasons.
In any case, he was signed up to find a gem in the gnome district. It was part of some wedding ritual, but the best part was that he would get a gem of his own, and he wanted it, regardless of how much it was worth. He could not escape his pirate lust for treasure, so having a gemstone would make him feel happy. He wondered where he would hoard it...
England began his journey to the Gnomish District. He had to go quite a ways, through the upper class neighborhood. That would be alright. He could scope out the area, see if he could find any of the government officials to talk to. He was pretty excited about this quest. He hoped it went smoothly. Now that his injuries were pretty much healed, he didn't think he'd have too much of a problem.
Ah, delicious treasure!

Unless England dodges, he slings his arm around the man's shoulder. Looks like England found a government official, if by official he meant presently low-ranking paperwork bitch. "So, what brings you here?"

"I'm busy. Go away."

He didn't realize the mistake he'd made.

Besides, if England's supposed to be avoiding Prussia to keep them from fighting, he's been doing a horrible job of that considering certain communications and ensuing attempts at mutual distraction. Really now. Are they certain they are enemies?

At the other's question, he pulled a small piece of paper out of his pocket. It had instructions and a map. "Gem hunting," he replied as he removed his hat and combed back his hair with his other hand. He couldn't hide his eagerness. "We're supposed to find a jewel of a certain size for a gnome wedding."
Did you hear that, Prussia? He said we.

"Ooooh..." He leans over to peer at the map and the instructions. "A foot in size... Holy shit, gems come that big?! Can we take some for ourselves too or what?" Whilst he doesn't quite have England's pirate hoarding tendencies, Prussia can certainly see the value in keeping gems around. He may or may not have a small stash from the ones his roommate occasionally leaves laying around the apartment...
And yes, he totally heard that we.

"It can't be that hard, right?"
In any other log, those might be famous last words. However, the narration is confident in their eventual success.

England takes a quick look around, hoping his light would catch any glimmer. When he finds nothing, he heads down the larger tunnel with Prussia. Already he can feel the tingle of hunting deep down in his bones. Somewhere in him is a shiny-radar. He's too excited!
"We'll see when we actually have to start doing work." But England's grinning widely, like a confident hunter.

Of course, he will need to rely on that sense for shiny England has. "I know! Why don't you do a magic thing to find the best jewels for us?" Does magic even do that? That would be awesome and profitable if it did!
england is not rarity, prussia
"Besides, that takes all the fun out of searching. Finding treasure is a game. It's supposed to be difficult and exciting!"

Without saying a word, England pointed his finger at Prussia and swished it around. Suddenly, Prussia's clothes were changed into a German barmaid's dress. He even had a wig with long braided pigtails.

Prussia slowly looked down as that thought ran through his head, until he finally saw exactly what he was now wearing.
"ENGLAND!!!! CHANGE MY CLOTHES BACK! THIS ISN'T AWESOME!" And also it makes it difficult for him to yell at maximum loudness, because the bodice is inordinately tight. Likely to push up breasts that his awesome self does not have.

"This one's too small for Herrisgeld's daughter, but not for me! I'm keeping it." He directed the pickaxe to finish getting it free and then picked it up. He held it out for Prussia to see. "It's more beautiful than a woman."

Of course, England wouldn't voice his concern out loud. No, he just would call Prussia an idiot, like usual.

"...I'll be back." He pushes himself to his feet and disappears into the opening.

Well, that, and he doesn't want England to pitch a fit. Nor does he plan on falling and breaking his neck any time soon.
So instead Prussia turns to face the island, grinning widely. "This is so awesome!"

"Yeah... We have the pick of the litter." He finally gets outside and takes in the whole scene. Beautiful!

From there, it isn't too long a journey back to Herrisgeld. The gnome is extraordinarily pleased with their find, especially once the gem is compared in size to his daughter. It is the perfect size to follow the tradition. England, of course, is the one to receive the payment, and after accepting Herrisgeld's thanks, they finally depart. It's grown quite late, and Prussia's main thought is dinner. Not that he wants to cook. Well... he can use some of his earnings from the customs office for dinner.
He invites England along. Just to keep an eye on him, of course. Gotta be sure of what the old man is up to. Can't trust the British and all that.
Besides, he needs someone to drag his arse back to the housing when he inevitably falls asleep into his dinner.
